It was another glorious day the perfect wedding location, The Beacon House on the beach at Whitstable. To me this was the perfect day. Relaxed, happy, friends, family and fish & chips. See if you agree.
Having been a seafaring man all my life, I am a huge supporter of the R.N.L.I. From being a ‘Storm Force’ junior member back in the 70’s to making others aware of the unique service we have here in the UK, I have a lot of respect for what these men and women do. Almost all of them, volunteers. Go most other places in the world and if you have to be rescued you will be slapped with a £1500 (usually more) bill. Whether you have started drifting in a blow up dinghy or have had a genuine emergency aboard a yacht, you will get a bill which needs to be paid before you move another nautical mile.
As with everything that is free, we need to keep making people aware of how it is funded (your generous donations) and how lucky we are to have these stations in service right around our coastline. Find out more at their website.
In the meantime, no, these aren’t wild action rescue photos, but just a quick series I took recently as Whitstable’s Lifeboat came ashore after a shout. Beautiful sunshine but a Force 6 gusting 7 as the tail end of Hurricane Bertha paid a visit.
